In her article Illusion of Change: Women and the American Revolution, Joan Hoff Wilson argues that women, people of color, and the poor gained little or nothing from the American Revolution. Wilson declares, “the American Revolution produced no significant benefits for American women…native Americans, blacks…most propertyless white males, and indentured servants (Wilson, History 11 Coursepack, p.153).
