Choose one event, movement, or person in U.S. history during the time period covered (1865-present). You will write an eight page research paper on your selection.

My most interesting activity so far is Remembering 1882: Fighting for Civil Rights in the Shadow of the Chinese Exclusion Act. In 1882, Congress passed the first major immigration act of the United States — a law prohibiting Chinese from entering the United States. The law would divide families, halve the population of Chinese Americans and deny them the right to become U.S. citizens. It’s about Asian Americans, and it’s about racism.
