This term, we will read a variety of literary works by many different authors. For this assignment, you will explore one or two pieces of literature from the course in more depth, or you can select another literary work from the 20th century that is not included in the course (but you will need to seek my approval first).
Throughout the term, we will be asking essentially the same question: “How does this piece of literature help us understand identity?” For the research paper, you will choose one or two pieces of literature from this term or chose a new piece and explore that question with the help of at least THREE secondary sources. I recommend that you use sources from the JWU Library database system, especially the database, Literature Resource Center. Please see the Course Resources tab in the left-hand navigation menu for help using JWU’s Library for research.
Your paper should be 4 full double-spaced pages (in addition to a Works Cited page) with proper in-text citations and a Works Cited page formatted according to current MLA guidelines. Be sure to carefully credit your sources. Please see the Course Resources tab in the left-hand navigation menu for help with MLA formatting and also refer to Purdue OWL for any and all MA questions.
Tomorrow, please submit the topic, preliminary thesis, and informal outline for your research paper. The outline should make it clear what you plan on researching and how that research will fit into the research paper question regarding identity. I am attaching an example, so you will know what I am expecting in terms of this preliminary work
