Instructions: Make six journal entries before the due date. To make an entry, craft an argument in reaction to one of the prompts below. Use your textbook and course resources as reference material. Prompts may be addressed in any order.

Each entry should be structured as one concise paragraph that begins with a topic sentence, followed by supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence. Topic sentences should be stated as fact.

To make an entry, select “Create Journal Entry” and write your submission in the dialog box provided; do not attach entries as Word documents, and etc.

Your entry paragraphs must include the following elements and be structured as directed. Each entry requires you to create a paragraph composed of:

  • One Topic Sentence – “Tell me what you are going to tell me.” A topic sentence is like a thesis statement; however, instead of stating the argument of an entire essay, the topic sentence delivers the argument of a paragraph. Use an action verb from the table of prompts to construct the topic sentence of each entry.
  • Supporting Sentences – “Tell me.” Supporting sentences provide facts, display reasoning, and offer examples supporting the topic sentence. Concise paragraphs that meet the objectives of this assignment should include three to six supporting sentences.
  • One Concluding Sentence – “Tell me what you told me.” A concluding sentence typically provides a summary of how the supporting sentences demonstrate the topic sentence to be true.
