film appreciation worksheet 1

This week, you were introduced to the film industry and stages of film production. You also learned about what happens when a film is made and what it takes to create interest and get it to the public. For this assignment, consider this week’s readings, videos, and the class discussion.

Complete the Film Appreciation Worksheet.

The film industry is influenced by culture and also influences culture. This week, you learned about film and culture, as well as about the various elements that make up the preproduction of a film.

Write 75 to 150 word answers to each of the following questions in the worksheet based on your textbook readings. This means 75-100 words for each question or a total of 150 to 450 words for the entire assignment. Students are not penalized for going over the word limit. Feel free to write as much as you want.

Be sure to enclose all direct quotes in quotation marks. (All assignments will be processed through Turnitin.com before grading.) Be sure to include in-text and reference page citations for all words or ideas taken from other sources. Son of a Citation Machine is a good resource for formatting citations. non financial data

Prompt: Using the SEC’s EDGAR database, search for a large public company and download the most recent Form 10-K. This form contains all the information that must be reported annually to the SEC. Within this form, ensure that it includes footnotes, the management discussion and analysis (MD&A) sections, review each of the previously listed sections, and discuss any off-balance sheet financing, management concerns, management’s expectations for the future, and anything interesting or out of the ordinary. Feel free to supplement your search with current articles that discuss your chosen company and the industry in which it operates.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

I. Company Selection: Select and name the public company along with the fiscal year-end of the annual report that includes footnotes and the management discussion and analysis (MD&A) sections.

II. Footnotes: Review the footnotes of the financial statements and describe off-balance sheet financing in general or with specific examples provided within the Form 10-K of the selected company (e.g., operating lease or through special purpose entities).

III. Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A): Review the MD&A of the annual report. Management often discusses issues of concern in this area of their report. They also include projected financial statements, which may suggest ideas about the firm’s potential for future earnings. a. Describe any management concerns listed and/or explain anything you find interesting or out of the ordinary. b. Describe any projections and/or future expectations of the management.

annotated bibliography and outline 3

Writing Assignment 3: Outline/Annotated Bibliography Due October 11

The topic of the paper is how disability is affected by the media

  1. Create a formal, detailed outline of your paper.

“A formal outline can help writers refine ideas in the prewriting process by organizing key points of any serious writing into a clear, logical framework and by keeping writers from wandering off the topic. It serves as the blueprint of a to-be-finished product. Most students find that producing a well-organized outline before they begin to compose will make the writing task easy.” (University of Minnesota)

https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/the_writing_process/developing_an_outline/types_of_outlines.html

  1. Create an annotated bibliography that includes at least 5 academic, outside research sources (the textbook does not count as a source) and a summary of each source. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/common_…

“An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.” (Cornell University)

  • Both the outline and the annotated bibliography MUST be submitted in the SAME document.
  • There are samples of an annotated bibliography and a formal outline posted at Handouts and Help at the class Blackboard site.

Research Sources

You may also use essays from Everything’s an Argument with Readings for this assignment. Your research sources must be college-level sources. You MAY NOT use the following sources:

  • Dictionaries (online or in print)
  • Encyclopedias (online or in print)
  • Wikipedia
  • Study guides
  • Papers written by other students (online or in print)

For information about appropriate sources, visit the Handouts and Help at the Blackboard class site.

Format

  • Be sure to use in-text citations for ALL quotes and examples from the text. In addition, you MUST have a Works Cited page at the end of your writing assignment.
  • ALL assignments must be submitted in proper MLA format. For help with MLA style guidelines, read Chapter 22 in EAA and visit the Purdue OWL website and search for MLA: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/
  • Do not use first person (I, we, us, our) or second person (you, your, you’re). Academic writing often requires the use of third person and a formal tone; in this course, I want you to practice this type of formal writing. College-level papers should always be written in third person, using a formal tone, unless the assignment/professor specifies otherwise.

Response to Burger King

Hi Tony, Hope everything is great. I know your really busy. I have a paper that I am working on where Burger King sent me “Notice of Motion”. It’s full of nonsense. I was wondering if you can take a look at what I wrote and make it sound so much better. I am going to pay for 6 pages for now but if you need more, please let me know. Thanks so much Tony!
